Before each session, participants are asked to read a themed book and bring it with them to the meeting.

Looking for Lost Friends

Family separation was a brutal practice in the slavery business of America. The "Lost Friends" advertisements published in "The Southwestern Christian Advocate" during the late 1800s and early 1900s by freed slaves looking for lost loved ones reveal a sophisticated use of unique African American rhetorical traditions. Learn about these advertisements as well as how Findlay played a special role in the lives of two individuals during this time in American history. Presented by local researcher Ann Arbaugh.

Reading with Gibbs

Need help building reading confidence? Or do you love reading as much as you love dogs? Beginning readers and students in kindergarten through twelfth grade are invited to drop in for reading practice with Gibbs, a licensed therapy dog, at the library each week. Participants will receive one-on-one time with Gibbs and his trainer as a way to work on reading strength and confidence while enjoying the company of a furry friend.

The eBus will be stationed in our Broadway Street parking lot on Tuesday, June 7 from 9am-1pm. We hope to see you there!

Tanabata: The Japanese Star Festival

Celebrate Tanabata, the Japanese Star Festival, by writing wishes on tanzaku (colorful strips of paper) and hanging them on our bamboo tree. There will also be origami, kimonos, coloring, portraits, and a story about the festival read aloud. Families can drop in any time between 4:30 and 7:00 PM.
Our tree was donated by the Japan America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) and The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership.
