We Help Adult Learners - Become a Read for L.I.F.E tutor.

Read for L.I.F.E. will be offering a tutor training class on Friday, February 9, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Lindamood Room.  Potential adult volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and are asked to commit to one year or more of volunteering.  Volunteers must be literate, however, no professional training or education is required.  Read for L.I.F.E. is looking for volunteers to teach reading, writing, English, life skills and subject areas of the GED including math, social studies, and science.  Registration is required by calling or e-mailing readforlife@findlaylibrary.org.

March is CommunityREAD Month - Hillbilly Elegy

March is CommunityREAD Month.  Copies of the Hillbilly Elegy are available for loan at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library and will be provided to area school libraries. Unlimited borrowing of Hillbilly Elegy eBooks and audiobooks now available through Overdrive -- unlimited borrowing and no wait for six weeks (started Feb. 17). J.D. Vance, New York Times Best-Selling Author of Hillbilly Elegy, will visited Hancock County to a sold out crowd on Thursday, March 22 during a CommunityREAD public presentation at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. 

Beginning Basket Weaving Class. Saturday, March 24. 9:30 a.m.


Attend a Beginning Basket Weaving Class on Saturday, March 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library in the Lindamood Room. This class if for beginning basket weavers.  A section of three colors of reed will be available to be woven in your basket.  A $12.00 material fee is due at the time of registration.  Class size is limited and registration is mandatory by March 16 at the Reference desk. Ages 18 and up.
